a cheap knock-off,

a kitkat or lollipop
with a snapper,
to capture a run.

with big smiles and all,
flying at high speed,
spinning a good cadence
even on high gear.

perhaps a personal record?
unverified, obviously!
in the absence of a cyclocomputer,
timed only with a trusty wristwatch.

on a discovered trail months ago,
rinsed out weekly
with friends, mainly solo,
in mud, sand, and rocks
be it rainy or sunny,
morning or afternoon.

the sounds of the city, muted, forgotten.

by the quiet of nature:
whispering wind, shuffling leaves,
trail side mammals, bird songs.

only the rolling of rubber
through loam, hardpack,
rock gardens, & sandy sections.
tumbling rocks, dried dead plants
the odd pedal strike.
Pure. Earth.

morning dew moistens the face, wild grass cut the arms and legs,
shadowing lovely green trees
soothing your core temps.

a glorious sun,
filtered through soft clouds
cold december morning air
makes for perfect riding conditions.

freshly cut sugarcane
left a most wonderful view,
rolling hills for kilometers on end
rows of empty fields.
+ a random truck with harvesters.

roaring, brapping all the way,
berming, screaming gnar!
smiling, laughing, gasping
for air, amidst the pain
shooting the legs and lungs.

Pure. Joy.

slight climbs, and
a long subtle decline

Toxic beliefs, like other negative emotions, are not something you want, but rather an emotion you pick up. When you’re surrounded by toxic people or negative environments, your brain picks up nasty traits that affects your self-conscious. Your self-esteem starts to diminish and you begin to believe the false truths people claim about you. What’s worse is that the average person who have toxic beliefs aren’t even aware of them until they’re depressed and have high anxieties.

Have you ever ask yourself why do you spend those long hours at office? Why do you struggle to earn so much? The answer will always come down to happiness, and happiness is the basic goal that drives every human on this planet to do what they’re currently doing.

1. I Need to Fit in

Fitting in is not a bad thing, unless it compromises the integrity of your own personality. Living in a society is important, but you don’t need to change yourself completely just to blend in with your social circle. Being different is okay, and once you’re okay with yourself, people will learn to accept you too. Remember- if you’re lucky enough to be different, don’t ever try to change, just be happy with who you are and people will follow!

2. I Can’t Trust Anyone

Broken promises and betrayals are a part of life, and often, you may want to give up trusting anyone around you. Remember that people are not always what they seem, and by having this belief, you may be shutting out yourself and creating a barrier around you. Learn to let go of your past experiences, and learn from it.

3. Its Too Late to Dream

If you think you’re too old to achieve a dream, remember this- 99% of Warren Buffet’s wealth was earned after he crossed his 50s. Age is just a number, and if you’ve got a dream that brings a smile on your face and takes up a good chunk of your thinking time, trust your instincts and go for it! 100% of the people who don’t do anything to succeed- so go ahead and give your dream a try!

4. Love is Too Painful

Its not love that hurts- its expectations that do. Love is an essential part of life, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be associated with a spouse. If you love the people who are a part of your life, life will give you even more reasons to love them. Try and get rid of any hard feelings or bitter experiences you may have about love, and realize that love is a beautiful emotion, and it is what gives life its meaning.

5. I Need ‘that’ to be Happy

Having a healthy obsession about your goals is okay, but don’t go overboard and link your happiness to it. Life has many different aspects and areas, and focus on getting your happiness from each one of them, not just one particular outcome. Think about it- once you do achieve your goal, after a moment of happiness, you’ll be left with another feeling of emptiness afterward. Realize that happiness is a journey, not a destination. Smile and stay happy with the small things life gives you everyday.

6. I’m Not Good Enough

A lot of people tend to be scared of their dreams being too good for them. You only think you’re not good enough for it because you haven’t had it already. Look around yourself. Successful people don’t have that belief that they’re not worthy enough. Infact, they believe in themselves, know that they can do it and that they deserve it, and they manage to get it on top. So whether it’s a successful business, a new home beside the beach or a soulmate- remember that it isn’t something you can’t get or you don’t deserve. Your limitations are only set by you yourself.

7. Life’s Too Hard

Life can be a bit tough sometimes, but there’s always a new beginning to look forward to. Happiness can be found even in the most toughest times if you look for the silver lining and hold onto it. Grief, anguish, hatred and anger can destroy you, but you’ve got to find the strength to rise back like the phoenix from its ashes. If you ever feel too overwhelmed by your setbacks in life, close your eyes, take a deep breath and recall the best time of your life.

8. I Don’t Need Anyone

Wrong. Everyone of us needs someone, whether it is to love, achieve a goal or even feel happiness for that matter. The basic instinct of humans is to pass on their knowledge to another, and every one of us on the earth is linked to one another. Every successful person has had the support of their friends or parents, and has been through a tough time when they’re helped by someone. It is okay to seek out help from someone you know- it doesn’t make you weak, it just makes the goal worthy enough to be yours.

9. I Need to Shut that Out

Being vulnerable can be an uncomfortable idea for many, but shutting off your emotions could be even worse. Allow yourself to feel every bit of emotion that you have- bottling it up will only destroy you from within. Remind yourself that the people that love you and respect you will understand your emotions, and you don’t need to provide explanations for your behavior to them. Tear down all the walls you’ve built around yourself, and stay in touch with your raw self.

10. I Shouldn’t Love Myself

Loving yourself doesn’t mean you’re a narcissist- infact, if you don’t love yourself enough, you’ll attract more experiences into your life, which will tell you not to love yourself. Love and respect yourself enough to know that you deserve what you want, and make a mental commitment that you’ll work hard for it. Don’t let your past experiences define yourself- everyone is growing, and so are you. Learn from your mistakes, and move on.
